area was inhabited more than 300.000 years ago by hunters. 300 bc
Nice became a settlement with the name Nikaia. Since than Nice has
gone through turbulent years. Wars and occupation by Romans
and Saracens. 1176 it became a city and a part of France in 1860.
The people are of Mediterranean origin, Africa, Middle East, Italy
and France. Today Nice is the center of the Alpes Maritime region. |
