From the 6 to the 11th century the region was controlled by the barbarians. 1297 François Grimaldi seized the fortress and it was the beginning of the Grimaldi reign. There were several interruptions due to wars. The casino was founded in 1866 and the name Monte Carlo was introduced. Several hotels where built and it started the modern area of Monaco. Monaco is the second smallest country in the world after the Vatica.

Mediterranean cuisine, that's it. All the nice herbs from Provence, sea food from the Mediterranean sea and the influence from Italy makes it a true food paradise. Try the famous Bouillabaisse seafood soup, mussels, lobster and steamed fish with a well chilled Côte de Province wine. The region is as well known for it's delicious lamm dishes as well as salads often called crudités.

 

 

 


Monaco offers a sofisticated nightlife. The famous Casino where you can gamble or watch the cabaret. Enjoy some drinks in the various bars, open air or in a nice posh settings.
