Innsbruck is approximately 800 years old. It is a famous winter sports heaven. in 1964 and 1976 it hosted the Olympic Winter Games. Located between two big neighbors, Germany in the north and Italy in the south it has its own flair with a touch of southern living.

This beautiful mountainous area has two distinctive faces. Summer and winter. The activities are accordingly, but be assured if you look for an active or even exiting family holiday, that's it. In summer you have a wide range of trekking options, white water rafting, paragliding, mountain climbing or just sunbath at one of the swimming pools.

In winter you are in the real winter paradise with all it's winter sports activities you are looking for.

The baroque cathedral St. Jakob was built between 1717 and 1724.
The Golden Roof "Goldenes Dachl"is a masterpiece of a late gothic window made of 2657 gold plated copper plates. You'll find it in the heart of the old city.
A good idea is to rent a car and drive around in the beautiful mountains. Be careful some roads are pretty narrow, but it's worth it.
The 5.000 year old Iceman "Ötzi" was found in the Ötztal 2.5 hours drive from Innsbruck. You can see some rebuild replicas of housing and hunting during those days. The body of the Ötzi is located in the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano, Italy.
Summer in Tyrol is beautiful, but winter is definitely the top season to visit Innsbruck and the surrounding villages and ski slopes.
