The Frankfurt region is
famous for it's apple wine, called locally "Äppelwoi". You
can drink it pure, it's quite sourish, or with soda water called "sauer
gespritzter", or with lemonade called "süss gespritzter". Watch out
it's quite potent. Frankfurt is as well surrounded by wine regions which
produce excellent white wines. Today you don't only get the sweet types but as
well very good dry ones. A specialty is "Federweisse" translated it means
white feather and is the fresh semi fermented grape. It taste sweet like
grape juice and knocks you of your feet if you have too many. As usual you'll
find plenty of beer. The two most famous Frankfurt brew's are Binding and
Henninger. |
