Founded in the 12th century, Berlin has gone through some turbulent times. In 1486 the Hohenzollern dynasty made it their residence. Berlin has seen kings and emperors. In 1871 it became the German capital, as the first German nation was founded. Berlin became fast a center of science, culture and art. The consequences of the second world war and the National Socialist era killed or made 170.000 Jewish citizens to disappear. The splitting of Germany and Berlin with it's monster wall made it the cold war capital. 1989 Berlin got reunited, rebuilt, became again the capital of a united Germany. It's a booming metropolis with a big international flair partly due to it's immigrants from all over the world. It will always remember the black days of the holocaust.

Berlin has plenty to offer. Biking is very popular and many roads do have bikelanes. There are plenty of tours available to see this fascinating town which has made so much history. You can book your tour here.

Potsdam is the old summer residence of the Preussen kings. The famous Sanssouci palace with its parks and surrounding buildings is an impressive cultural heritage of the powerful Hohenzollern Royal family. in all there are 22 small and big palaces. Today it's the capital of the state of Brandenburg.
The Brandenburg gate was built in 1791 and is today the most famous symbol of Berlin and the reunification of Germany in 1989.
Checkpoint Charlie is a reminder of the cold war. It was the main gate to enter East Berlin during the cold war period.  You can buy a brick from that wall, "guaranteed authentic" if you go to the small wall which is left and the tourist shops around it.
Jewish Museum, new building The new Jewish Museum was opened on  September 9th, 2001. It shows the 2000 years history between the German and Jewish community. A comprehensive exhibition is in memory of the holocaust.
The holocaust memorial is located between Potsdamer Platz and Brandenburg Gate. It's in a way cold and ugly. So were the crimes this memorial want us us to remember
KADEWE founded 1907 is Europe's largest department store and located opposite the memory church on Kudamm.  The name is an abreviation of department store of the west (Kaufhaus des Westens).  It's most famous for it's 6 floor delicatessen. What you can't find it's not worth to try. It's worth a visit!
Havel an der Werder is a beautiful small town located at 4 lakes and the river Havel. It's quiet laid back atmosphere is the right place to run away from the busy city of Berlin.

The cuisine of Berlin is rustique. Most famous is "boulette" a burger type meat patty made of either 1/2-1/2 minced pork or veal and beef mixed with milk soaked white bread, onions, pepper and salt and pan-fried in butter. With it goes a Berliner Weisse a mix of lager beer and raspberry syrup. Being a metropolis you'll find any regional German or international cuisine. Breakfast consists of a cup of strong coffee, juice, crunchy buns and plenty of cold cuts and cheese and is the most important meal of the day. Don't miss on the Konditoreien, a Vienna style coffee houses serving different types coffees, teas, wine, beer AND unbelievable cakes of any flavor. Glories calories.

This brewery dates back to 1870. It's famous for it's Pilsner and the fruity Berliner Weisse. You find a huge range of German and international beers all over the city. Try German wines from dry to the known fruity ones.

You will find it all, and the best there is no closing time by the lawmaker. There are plenty of bars, lounges, dance bars, live music and concerts.
