From 1278 to 1993, Andorrans were ruled by the French chief of state and the Spanish bishop of Urgel. In 1993, The feudal system was changed in 1993 with heads of state retained, but the government transformed into a parliamentary democracy. Due to it's mountainous location it was long time isolated and impoverished. Sine World War II, the tourism industry made Andorra prosper. Many immigrants (legal and illegal) are attracted to the thriving economy with its lack of income taxes.

Andorra is a ski paradise. Guaranteed snow in winter it's a nice alternative to the overcrowded slopes in the alps.

Caldea is probably Europe's largest SPA open all year round. Nice retreat after a warm summer walk in the mountains or a relaxing SPA after a ski tour in winter.

A 2.5 hours drive takes you to the bustling city of Barcelona. Enjoy a harbor trip or visit the famous church Sagrada Familia by Gaudi.

Andorra's food is influenced by it's neighbors France and Spain. Tappas in the early evening and dinner later at night is a common southern European eating habit.
